Introverts Unite!

introverts unite - www.someecards.com

There are associations for pretty much every business or hobby you can think of – but I haven’t been able to find an International Association for Introverts.

My friend Valerie Young asked:

  • What would the International Association of Introverts be like…
  • What would the mission be?
  • The Non-conference?
  • What would they lobby for on behalf of members – for example, mandatory time off for reflection etc.

It’s an interesting thought!

So what would YOU want the International Association for Introverts to stand for and promote? Leave your suggestions in the comments below.

  • If it’s true that we make up more than a third of the population, that would be a pretty powerful lobby group though!

Indeed Helen! I think we make up nearer 50% of the population, in fact. The only problem is that we’re not very vocal – or at least, not in large groups! 😉

  • Great idea! Before I became self employed, I worked in an open plan sales office. I would champion for: the right to work in your own office or better still from home for some of the week, and to opt out of meetings if they were not directly relevant to you.
The non conference would be great – lots of breaks throughout the day, not to congregate around a busy coffee urn but to get outside and walk and talk or chill out in a break out lounge and it to be perfectly accepted not to talk to anyone!

Oh, I like the sound of that Sarah – especially getting outside and chilling out. I used to work in an open plan office too, which is why I used to spend my lunch breaks sitting by the river or wandering round the shops, ignoring people!! 😉
